Janet K Lee made her first foray into illustration in 2010 by co-creating “Return of the Dapper Men” with writer Jim McCann which garnered a record-setting five Eisner nominations, winning the award for Best New Graphic Album. Lee went on to illustrate the Marvel Comics adaptations of two of Jane Austen’s novels, “Emma” and “Northanger Abbey” as well as six other books and anthologies. Her subsequent work has received both Harvey and Eisner nominations. “Sea Sirens”, a fantastic adventure with a girl and her surfing cat who visit the mermaid kingdom, and its sequel "Sky Island" were published by Viking.
New things are on the horizon for 2024: Janet tries her hand at writing! An as-yet-unnamed, middle-grade graphic novel is coming from Roaring Brook Press!
Janet remains active in her local art community, teaching comics workshops in partnership with her local library. She lives in Nashville, Tennessee with her husband, her son, one good dog, and four mischievious cats.
